Dr. Richard E. Guelzow
Richard Guelzow, DVM joined Countryside in 1985 after practicing in the south suburbs. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and went on to complete his veterinary education at the University of Illinois He is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, the Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He particularly enjoys working with geriatric cats and dogs and promoting the human animal bond. He and his wife Gayle share their home with 5 cats and he enjoys cooking, wine, and software development.
Dr. Michael Malitz
Dr. Michael Malitz graduated from The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. After graduation he spent a year in Indiana doing general practice and emergency work before moving back to the Chicago area. He joined the practice as an associate in 2003 and became a partner in 2004. Dr. Malitz is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Malitz lives in Deerfield with his wife, 3 kids and 2 dogs, Ruby and Pumpkin.
Dr. Mary Hannah
Dr. Hannah received her DVM from the University of Illinois in 1999. Although the love of animals drew her to the profession, she realizes that for every animal that comes to the clinic, there is a human being attached to the other end of the leash/carrier. Being able to help pets and the people who love them makes her happy. Dr. Hannah shares her home with her husband, Jon, their two kids, and a cast of characters known as "the island of misfit pets".
Mary - Office Manager
Mary has been at Countryside for 15 years. She helps in every aspect of the clinic, and enjoys the diversity. She lives in Arlington Heights with her Fiancee Rob and their 3 dogs. Her passion for animals, enables her to do fundraising for various shelters. In addition to that she enjoys music and antiquing .
Naomi – Receptionist
Naomi is one of the members of the Front Desk Team, pleasantly answering the phones and warmly greeting clients and their pets. Naomi brings with her 12 years Front Desk experience within the veterinary field. Prior to that, Naomi lovingly was a full-time mother to her two sons, Adam and Jason, both of whom are currently living in LA, doing their Rock ‘n Roll thing. When Naomi is not working, she is playing and walking her love, Joey (Shih-Tzu/Sheltie mix), her rescue dog. Naomi also has a love of all dogs, Chicago Bears, Star Wars and Converse “Chucks”, of which her current collection count is over 50 pairs of shoes.
Mary K. - Veterinary Assistant
Prior to entering the veterinary field, Mary K. taught preschool for many years. In 2014, she went back to CLC to take a course in Veterinary assisting. Upon completion, Mary K. joined the CAC team. She has several pets of her own including two dogs and two cats. When she is not working, Mary K. spends her time with her daughters. She also enjoys Country music and attending concerts.
Janet - Receptionist
Janet has 9 years experience working at the front desk in the veterinary field. She is married with two children, and has 2 pets, Toby the rescued beagle/shepherd mix and Bob the bearded dragon. In her free time she is an avid nature photographer, enjoys hiking, going to concerts, supporting local artists and listening to a wide variety of music.
Prior to entering the Veterinary field, Robin was a preschool teacher for 20 years. Her love for animals, lead her to VSC for eleven years and recently came to us in June of 2018. Robin loves people, cats, and dogs. She has a husband, son, daughter, and 2 dogs Kacy and Zoey. She loves bike riding, canasta, mah-jongg, walking, and reading in her free time.
Chris - Veterinary Assistant
Chris has always had a love for animals, but she found her passion for it and the medical aspect working for Heartland Animal Shelter for 8 years. There is no better feeling then rescuing a pet, being part of it's nurture and watching it flourish in it's forever home. When she is not focusing most of her attention on animals, she enjoys sports, camping, photography and just relaxing. Her greatest love is for her pups Homer and Plucky!
